This store, built during the civil war, is owned by Eugene Tallon. WJ was his father. He visited Coos Bay, OR in 1942 during the war. This is the only general store in Constable, NY, not far from the border into Canada. He was a very interesting man, I hung around quite awhile visiting with him. Learned alot. He said the "WalMarts" of the world aren't what's killing his business, it the Government....rule, permits, inspections, fees, etc. etc. He said he couldn't even call the rest room "public" anymore, the inspectors didn't like it. (it was better than a lot we've been in" Anyway, it was sort of the highlight of the day for me.
